Electric and natural gas procurement for industrial loads
SBRP and our procurement partners structure supply agreements for commercial, industrial, and municipal users, with expertise in supplying natural gas and distributed energy for data infrastructure across the Midwest
01 / What We Procure
Commodity supply, structured to the load
Electricity and natural gas are commodities. The difference between an unmanaged contract and a managed one is real money over the life of the asset.
SBRP and our procurement partners cover:
- Full-requirements supply.
- Block-and-index strategies.
- Hedging through approved suppliers.
- Fixed-price purchases under master agreements.
- Capacity, ancillary, and ISO/RTO pass-through management.
- Pipeline and city-gate gas, including basis and storage.
We work in deregulated markets where customers can choose supply. We also work in regulated territories where the lift is tariff design and demand-side strategy.
02 / Service Territory
Eligible Midwest and adjacent states
Michigan
Illinois
Indiana
Ohio
Pennsylvania
New York
West Virginia
Kentucky
Virginia
We hold agency relationships with major retail suppliers across these markets. We are commodity-agnostic and supplier-neutral. The role is to structure the right contract for the load, not to push a single supplier.
03 / Why Procurement Belongs in Data Deployments
Power cost is half the operating equation
-
01
Cost basis sets the deal
Laid-in cost of power across a 10- to 15-year horizon drives the underwrite. We model that basis before site selection is final.
-
02
Structure beats spot
Block-and-index, fixed-price layers, and hedging smooth volatility an operator should not be carrying on its P&L.
-
03
Distributed energy as a tool
CHP, on-site solar, batteries, and standby generation are evaluated on what they actually do to the supply stack. Where they pencil, we layer them in. Where they don't, we say so.
-
04
Greenfield vs. brownfield
Greenfield in a data center corridor faces different supply constraints than a brownfield site with existing utility headroom. Procurement and tariff strategy follow the situation.
04 / How We Are Structured
SBRP and Procurement Partners
Energy procurement for SBRP projects is delivered through a network of procurement partners who specialize in commodity supply.
What that means in practice:
- SBRP runs the development and the integrator function.
- Procurement Partners hold the supplier relationships, the agency agreements, and the commodity execution capability.
- Clients see one procurement workstream, scoped and signed by SBRP.
- Suppliers see qualified counterparties on the other side of the contract.
The structure is intentional. It keeps the development integrator role and the commodity execution role distinct, and lets each side do what it does best without conflicts of interest.

We work fastest with the existing supply contract, the historical interval data, and a rough sense of forward load. Send what you have, we will follow up with what else we need.
